After getting several questions and requests from our customers, we started exploring the possibilities for electric assist on the GreenMachine and Orca.
There are two main systems for electric assist for bikes:
1. A hub motor inside one of the wheels
2. A motor in the drive train in front of the gears.
The motor in the drive train has several major advantages which makes it our preferred system. It is a system that requires a lot more engineering to get a good result.
We are
very proud to say we are the first manufacturer

that has been able to fully integrate this system into a recumbent.
The motor, the transmission, the power sensor and the controller are integrated into a attractive housing that doesn´t clash with the clean lines of the bike.
To come to the perfect end result we use the best high-end components that are currently available on the market. The housing we designed ourselves. We use a brushless DC- motor by
"Daum electronic"and the TMM power sensor combined with the controller and display by "
ID-Bike". When we add the powerful Li-ion battery, that has been discreetly incorporated into the GreenMachine top bag, it becomes the best electric assist that is currently available for a recumbent bike!
At
SPEZI 2011, April 30th and May 1st in Germersheim Germany, and later at
Cycle Vision, 25-26 June at FlevOnice Biddinghuizen, there will b

e a GreenMachine with electric assist on our stand.
The retail price for electric assist as an option on the GreenMachine is
€ 1.950,- including VAT.
The electric assist will be available on both models at the end of 2011.
