Collaboration pays off
Flevobike paid a visit to Rohloff to take a look behind the scenes and get acquainted. Personal contact is and will be very important to be able to work together on improving the bike.
The unique and·Eurobike award winning·recumbent bike "the GreenMachine" is equipped with the top of the line gear system by Rohloff.·The highly praised Rohloff gear system has an enclosed housing with an oilbath lubrication, so the system will function without any problems·year after year.
The only thing that needs attention is the fact that some parts in the oil will evaporate making the oil thicker. That's why Rohloff advises to change the oil once evry couple of years.
In the GreenMachine the Rohloff gear hub is enclosed inside the frame, so the housing of the gear system had to be adapted especially for this use.·

At Rohloff they have been working with us from the start, which we deeply appreciate. This kind of collaboration enables new developments to become a success.
The oil drain plug has also been moved to the side of the Rohloff housing, this way the oil can be refreshed without taking anything apart. An opening has been made in the frame of the GreenMachine to do so, which can be sealed with a plastic cap. If the cap is removed the oil drain plug of the Rohloff housing can be reached and the oil can by refreshed easily, just as easy as with a standard Rohloff hub.
